Renting in San Diego County
San Diego County has seen major tenant rights changes in recent years. The City of San Diego enacted its own Residential Tenant Protections ordinance in April 2023, adding local just cause eviction requirements on top of AB 1482. San Diego renters now have some of the stronger local protections in Southern California โ but many areas of the county outside city limits still rely on state law alone. Understanding which jurisdiction you're in is critical.
