Renting in Sonoma County
Sonoma County has been shaped by wildfires and rapid growth. The Tubbs Fire (2017), Kincade Fire (2019), and others destroyed thousands of rental units, creating severe housing shortages. In response, Santa Rosa enacted significant rent stabilization and Petaluma followed. The Sonoma County Tenant Protections Ordinance adds just cause protections for unincorporated areas.
